Festive wear is dressy clothing for celebrations: Eid and Chand Raat, Mehndi and Walima, engagements, family dawats and even birthday dinners. It sits a step above everyday pret, with richer fabric, embroidery that catches the light, and silhouettes like the maxi, sharara or gharara.
People often mix the terms, so here is how they differ. Festive wear is the broad category. Formal wear is dressier clothing for evening events and weddings. Semi-formal is lighter, for dawats and engagements. Bridal wear is for the bride herself. Our formal collection is the wider home for formal outfits, and the bridal collection is for brides.
Every outfit on this page is stitched and ready to wear in standard sizes, so there is no tailor and no waiting.
Pakistani weddings are a sequence of functions, and each has its own mood. This is a guide, not a rule. Spellings vary (Mehndi or Mehendi, Nikkah or Nikah, Barat or Baraat, Walima or Valima), but the functions are the same.
Mehndi and dholki. This is the bright, playful, easy-to-dance-in event. Lean towards ferozi, mustard, orange or lemon, in a sharara or a lighter flared outfit. The ferozi organza 3 piece maxi with tilla embroidery and raw silk trousers is a good example of a colour-forward festive piece.
Nikkah. Soft, graceful and understated. Peach, lilac, cream and soft pink in organza or net suit the mood. The peach tilla and adda work net maxi fits this kind of ceremony.
Barat. The showstopper. Deeper colours such as maroon or black, with heavier embroidery in net, tissue or Korean raw silk. See the Korean raw silk tilla maxi or the maroon Korean raw silk sharara suit.
Walima or Valima. The most formal, reception-style event. Think off white, mouse grey and soft tones in organza or net maxi. The off white tilla and adda net maxi is the kind of piece people reach for.
Engagement and family dawat. Dressy without bridal weight. A burnout tissue 3 piece suit or a net 3 piece suit works well. If you still want something lighter, browse semi-formal suits.
Eid falls in a different season each year, so check the fabric weight as well as the look. A summer Eid wants light organza in pastel or mid tones. A winter Eid can carry heavier net, tissue or velvet. For a daytime lunch, pick something comfortable you can wear through prayers, visits and long hours. For an evening gathering, step up to richer colours and a shinier fabric. Chand Raat gatherings suit a festive 3 piece in a colour you'd happily be photographed in.
You don't need a wedding-weight outfit for a party. A burnout tissue or net 3 piece, or a lighter frock, keeps the festive feel without the bridal drama. For a dressier dinner, a raw silk sharara is a safe pick.
Close family usually dresses a notch above guests, but never in the bride's colour. Sisters and cousins often choose a maxi, sharara or gharara for the big functions. Mothers and elders often prefer a full-length 3 piece with a generous dupatta. If you know what the bride is wearing, avoid the same colour. If you are ordering for several family members, see the bulk section below.
A simple test: if the venue is lit by sunlight, go lighter, with organza in peach, cream or lilac. If it is lit by chandeliers, go richer, with tissue, raw silk or net in maroon, black or ferozi.
Maxi. A long, flowing shirt with trouser and dupatta. Best for Barat, Walima and evening events. See maxis and gowns.
Gharara. Fitted to about the knee, then flaring out, often with a decorated joint. A traditional pick for Mehndi and heritage-style functions.
Sharara. Flares from the hip or waist, so it is lighter and easier to move in than a gharara. Good for dancing.
3 piece suit. Shirt, trouser and dupatta. The most flexible option for Eid, Nikkah and dawats.
Frock. A shorter flared kameez for parties and birthdays. See frocks.
Choosing a maxi by height. Check the length against your height and the heels you plan to wear. If you are petite, look for a length that won't pool on the floor. If you are tall, check that the hem reaches where you want it.
Organza. Crisp, light and sheer, and it holds embroidery well. A favourite for Nikkah, Walima and daytime events.
Net. Sheer and detailed, popular for Barat and bridal-guest outfits. It usually looks best over a slip or lining.
Raw silk and Korean raw silk. Structured with a sheen, popular for shararas and evening looks.
Chambray katan. A silky fabric with a formal finish .
Bindi badla. A metallic-detail work used on heavier festive pieces.
Bright shades such as ferozi, mustard, orange and lemon suit Mehndi and daytime events. Soft shades such as peach, lilac, pink, cream and skin suit Nikkah, Eid and engagements. Deep shades such as maroon and black suit Barat and evening events. Neutrals such as off white, mouse grey and white suit Walima. This collection includes all of these colours. As a courtesy, avoid the bride's colour.

Sale pieces cannot be exchanged, so check your size before you order.
Order at least 10–14 days before your function. Here is why. Processing takes up to 24 business hours after payment confirmation. Delivery is usually 3–5 working days, and weekends and public holidays don't count. Remote areas can take longer. Your 14-day exchange window starts at delivery and must be used at a Sha Posh store, so ordering early leaves time to check the fit and swap if needed. For example, if your Walima is on the 30th, order by the 16th at the latest. Heavy embroidered pieces also sell out closer to the wedding season peak.
Pakistani brands don't share one sizing standard, so measurements work better than size labels. Our policy doesn't accept change-of-mind returns, and heavy embroidery is harder to alter, so check carefully.
Measure a festive suit you already own and love.
Compare it with the size chart on the product page.

Wear a slip or inner under sheer fabrics. Net and organza usually look best with a matching inner.
Add or swap the dupatta. A plain chiffon dupatta can lift a simpler outfit.
Re-wear the pieces. Extra bottoms let you wear the shirt again a different way.
Pick the right jewellery. Jhumkas, stacked bangles and a potli bag are the classic Pakistani festive pairing.
Choose shoes you can dance in. Block heels or embellished flats.
Always follow the care label. Embroidered, net, organza and tissue pieces are usually best dry cleaned. Keep them away from direct perfume, avoid tumble drying, and store them hanging in a breathable garment bag instead of plastic.

Match your outfit to the function. Choose bright, easy-to-move-in colours for a Mehndi, soft tones for a Nikkah, deeper shades for a Barat and refined neutrals for a Walima. Maxis, 3 piece suits and shararas in organza, net or raw silk work for most events. Browse our festive collection or formal wear.
For a Mehndi, wear bright, comfortable outfits you can move in, such as a sharara or a lighter flared dress in ferozi, mustard, orange or lemon. Yellow, green and orange are the classic Mehndi shades. Pick light fabrics and an easy dupatta so you can enjoy the dancing. See our formal and semi-formal ranges.
Order at least 10 to 14 days before your function. This leaves time for processing, delivery and, if needed, an exchange. Wedding season is busy and popular sizes can sell out, so order early. See our Exchange & Refund policy, or WhatsApp +92 317 1570725 for help choosing.
